Long ago, people dreamt of flying in the air like the birds but the dream was turned into reality when Wright brothers invented the world’s first airplane and succeeded in lifting up into the sky as their first flight. Thus, man rose into the air since then and flew like the birds and moved from one place to another for various reasons. Later on, the airplanes of old times were modernized and were made more effective and comfortable with the use of advanced technology. Since then, various airplanes were built for various purposes in different sizes as per requirement. Eventually, the largest and heaviest airplanes were built to fulfill the need of man.
At present, Antonov 225 is considered to be the world’s biggest and heaviest airplane in the history. It is the airplane having about 88.4meters Wingspan, length about 73meters, height 24.1meters, including 6 engines and 32 wheeled landing gear systems with 2 nose and 14 main wheels. It has the maximum internal loading capacity of 551150 lbs, external load of 440000 lbs, maximum takeoff weight about 600000kg, with maximum speed of 528mph.
It was designed for carrying Space Shuttle "Buran" of the Russian Federation. It and was built in the year 1988. It was designed to airlift the boosters of the rockets, space shuttles and other large size immense cargo. It is even capable of lifting the heavy cargo on the upper fuselage. But, as the Russian space program congested down, the charge of Antonov 225 went under the  Antonov airlines for a short period.
Antonov 225 is also been renowned as AN-225 Mriya. The word “Mriya” means ‘inspired dreams’ in Russian language. It is only designed for carrying cargo and humanitarian relief aid due to its capability of shipping supplies from one place to another. Basically, it is not experienced to be a part of army purpose, but it can be helpful for the army uses in various aspects. As, its main purpose of built was to carry cargo.
The airplane went on its first flight in 1988 and the course of the first flight was about one hour and fifteen minutes and then it was given into the service in 1989.  When the space program of Buran was cancelled, the AN-225 Mriya was temporary grounded in the year 1994. The engines of the airplane were attached to the AN-124s so that it may be useful. After a long period of 6 years, the aircraft was again put into flight in the year 2001 and had its second flight on May 7. Later on, in January, 2002 it went on the first commercial flight to transport the prepared food items for the American Army.
